High Ability (VHAP) excursion

On Thursday April 24th, a group of 20 VHAP (Victorian High Ability Program) students from Year 8 attended a Masterclass workshop at Virtual Schools Victoria in Thornbury.  The Maths group were split into the Time Travel group or the Game theory group. The Time travel group went on an adventure through time, space and beyond—no time machine required! They explored the enigmatic nature of time and delved into its measurement, perception, and impact on our lives. They unravelled scientific theories and philosophical perspectives. Students worked together to look at the ethical issues surrounding time travel and the scientific theories involved.  The Game theory group had students strategising, outsmarting opponents, and contemplating approaches toward decision-making. They explored classic dilemmas, devise cunning strategies, and had the opportunity to apply their thinking.

The High Ability English group worked to develop their own creative project about hope.  They dived into the power of hope, how it is created and where it hides and how it shapes the stories we tell.  Through film, music and literature, they analysed hope in all its forms.

Students were able to mix with other high ability students from other schools, share ideas and create together.
