Zonta Club Young Women in Public Affairs Award

Zonta International is a leading global organisation empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. It envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognised as human rights, where every woman is able to achieve her full potential, and where no woman lives in fear of violence.

The Bendigo Zonta Club offers a number of scholarships and awards throughout the year, designed to recognise, encourage and support deserving young women to remain in, and excel at, secondary or tertiary education; to be excellent citizens; and to achieve excellence in their chosen field.

The Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs Award aims to encourage young women to participate in public affairs. It recognises commitment to the volunteer and civic sectors, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to empowering women through service and advocacy. This award is part of Zonta’s International Scholarships, with the winner at the club level going on to be eligible for one of 37 international scholarships to the value of US$5,000.

‘Public Affairs’ refers to all aspects of community life where decisions have to be made about issues that relate to and affect those communities in which people work and live.

The scholarship itself is to the value of $750, and is open to any young woman aged 16 to 19 on 1 April 2024 who has a proven history of involvement in Public Affairs. The successful applicant will also be recognised as part of our 2024 International Women’s Day celebrations, to be held on 5 March 2024.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you require any further information, or go to the Zonta Club of Bendigo’s website at https://www.zontabendigo.org where you will also find the application form.
