YEAR 12 FOOD STUDIES

On Friday, 17th October, the Year 12 Food Studies competed in a Bake Off for their last lesson.  This was student driven and allowed for the class to create their own version of a cake or muffin using a basic recipe.  It was so great to see the students getting involved, bringing their own additional ingredients and decorations.  All students have worked so hard this year on their SAC tasks, and this was a chance for them to have a little bit of fun.

We were very lucky to have 4 esteemed judges join us! Their job was to conduct a comprehensive sensory appreciation of samples of each creation – by the end, all appeared to be in various stages of sugar comas!!!  Our judges were Ms Dargan, Ms Hatfield, Ms Russel and Ms Ritchie.  It was a very difficult decision, as all products were outstanding.

Our winners were:

3rd Place – Emma and Brooke S – marble cake

2nd Place – Rachel W – raspberry muffins

1st Place – Laura B – chocolate coconut cake

I wish all our students undertaking exams the best of luck and look forward to dissecting the Food Studies exam on November 17th!
