Leadership Camp 2025

This week, students from years 7 - 10 have been involved in a Leadership camp at in Rubicon. Below are a few stories from the camp from our wonderful students:

Camp was a trip of a lifetime there were so many fun activities like rafting, biking and hiking. Once we arrived we took our bags off the bus and found out who was in our cabin. After that we found out our groups then we had our first activity, to go for a walk and explore nature. On Tuesday we went rafting, on Wednesday we went mountain biking, then on Thursday we went on a hike up Sugarloaf and we absailed down. Friday we packed up our things, made lunch and did one last activity. Then we headed on the way back to school.

Once we arrived everything was new, it felt like we were in a different world, surrounded by Rubicon hills. We got a warm welcome and got to know the Rubicon staff and teachers. On day 1 my group did rafting along with another group. We jumped off rope swings, hijacked each others boats, endured currents and rips, all while floating down stream. The groups finished the evening with a few group games.

On the morning of day 2, my group abseiled. The minute we stepped onto its vertical slopes our legs burned as much as the sun. But nonetheless, it was 1000% worth it. I find it so amazing how our group gave it a go and went to the top. Some even took down their fear. I ended up going down 3 times in the end.  Although it was one of the smaller peaks, the views were enough to take your breath away. We met a few friendly and not so friendly animals along the way like wallabies, echidnas, a hare and a little dangerous snake peaking.

To conclude the second day, us year 7s and 8s went on a night walk. We saw some cows along the way, they glared at us hoping for food which we didn't have.
