Once again Maribyrnong Sports Academy will have representation at an Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games, with an expected four alumni athletes set to be called up for their respective sports.

Two athletes have been confirmed with Leon Sejranovic and Nathan Pellissier having their passports stamped for Paris 2024.  Leon will be representing Australia in Taekwondo while Nathan a silver medallist in Tokyo will be representing Australian in Para Table Tennis.

At the writing of this story two more athletes are awaiting final selection. Luke Plapp, a bronze medallist at Tokyo, is expected to be picked for Australia in the Road Race and Time Trial, while Celeste Mucci is awaiting the final National Championships in a few countries before knowing if she has made the top 40 in the world for the 100m Hurdles and a place in the event in Paris.

In 2021 MSA had 5 Alumni represent Australia at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic games.  Nathan Pellissier and Luke Plapp as mentioned above winning a silver and bronze medal respectively, other athletes to compete were Reba Stewart in Taekwondo, Connor Metcalfe in Football and Gronya Somerville in Badminton.

Before Tokyo our only MSA athlete at an Olympics was Ibrahim Balla in Boxing. Ibrahim competed in the 2012 London Olympics.

We wish all our Olympians and Paralympians all the very best for Paris 2024.
