Year 11 - Study Retreat

Our Year 11's had a great time at The University of Melbourne's Ormand College for our two day Study Retreat.

Students attended a range of workshops geared towards setting them up for success over the next 1.5 years.

Our Careers Team worked with students to develop their own 'Career Action Plan' and in Study Skills students learnt new strategies for time management, organisation, motivation and revision. We're now seeing Year 11 students who:

  • started using their Outlook calendar and task list to stay organised and on top of deadlines.
  • create flashcards to review concepts in the more content-heavy subjects.
  • record quotes, definitions and other materials to be memorised in their own voice to listen to on their daily commute
  • are planning to get more sleep to aid with learning and recovery.

The team from Elephant Ed presented a workshop on consent, an important issue for all our young people.

'Fit2Drive' involved multiple workshops, including presentations from Victoria Police and Fire Rescue Victoria, equipping students to be safe drivers and safe passengers as they begin getting their driving license.

Our evening included a Magic Show from magician Nicholas Johnson, some down-time with a movie and a high-energy Trivia Night.

The impressive buildings and beautiful surrounds of Ormand College provided a great venue for our Year 11 students to connect, reflect and plan.
