Year 7s Make Some “Music” (and a Few Laughs!)

At the beginning of this term, our Year 7 students got their first taste of the Instrumental Music Program, stepping into the music room for a day of exploration, experimentation—and, let’s be honest, a few hilarious surprises!
From the moment they picked up the instruments, there were squeaks, squawks, and the occasional “is this supposed to sound like that?” echoing through the room. Some of our budding musicians discovered hidden talents, while others discovered that sometimes, learning a new instrument takes… a little practice (and maybe a helmet for your ears!).
What stood out most, however, was the enthusiasm and bravery of every student. Each Year 7 had a go, trying instruments they had never touched before, laughing along the way, and showing a willingness to step out of their comfort zones—and that’s exactly the kind of spirit that makes our Instrumental Music Program so special.
We were thrilled to see so many young musicians exploring, experimenting, and most importantly, having fun with music. The smiles, the laughter, and yes, even the unexpected sounds, made it clear that this is a program where creativity thrives.
Many of these talented students have now joined our Instrumental Music Program and are filling our halls with music, energy, and maybe a few more squeaks and squawks along the way!
