Year 8s Make Waves at Phillip Island!

Our Year 8s traded the classroom for the great outdoors on their unforgettable Phillip Island camp, and what an adventure it was! From riding the waves during surf lessons to smashing sixes in beach cricket, our students embraced every moment with energy, enthusiasm—and just a little sand in their shoes.
Of course, the highlight for many was the iconic Penguin Parade, where our students witnessed the magic of tiny tuxedoed creatures waddling home for the night. It was a reminder that sometimes the smallest moments leave the biggest impressions!
Camps like this are about so much more than fun (though there was plenty of that!). They provide an invaluable opportunity for students to see their teachers as humans, perhaps less like the mysterious figures in classrooms and more like people who occasionally attempt to surf or swing a cricket bat. Likewise, staff get to see students in all their glory—quirks, talents, humour, and everything in between—not just the version that shows up in lessons.
From sunrise to sunset, laughter echoed across Phillip Island as friendships were strengthened, new bonds were formed, and memories were made that will last a lifetime. We couldn’t be prouder of the resilience, enthusiasm, and kindness our Year 8s displayed throughout the camp.
Here’s to adventure, connection, and a little bit of sand in unexpected places, like ears!
