Round Square Cup

The 2024 Round Square Cup was a wonderful event that brought over 110 students and staff together for an afternoon of sporting competition and to raise money for FLECS - the St Philip's partnership with Ti Tree School.

The Round Square Committee worked tirelessly behind the scenes for almost six weeks, and the 3 hours of fierce rivalry was testament to their great planning. Eight teams of 12(ish) competed in a round robin event across netball, volleyball, novelties and the infamous ‘chicken run’.

Each team came dressed up, armed with a flag and a cheer that they had developed to participate in the opening parade. Points were awarded for the best theme! After an 80s Aerobic-style warm up led by the committee, the games began. Competition was cut-throat and sustained by lots of baked treats and a BBQ, the competitors got through the grueling schedule!

Despite best efforts, there can only be one winner and the Year 9 boys’ team ‘In Loving Memory of Eli’ took out the Cup for 2024. The staff (Staff That!) came an honourable 2nd place, and best and fairest went to Riley Sherry and Carlos Prieto for Seniors, Matilda Battarai and Tyler Ruffing for Juniors. The best theme went to the boarder team, ‘Honey Ants’, for their impressive design and great costumes.

The Best Team Spirit Award went to our wooden spoon team of Skibidi Minions, but the support, enthusiasm and sportsmanship shown by all teams was wonderful to see.

It was a fabulous Round Square event filled with all the discoveries we hope to foster - tenacity, teamwork, compassion and appreciation of diversity!

Well done to the Round Square Committee and thank you to all those who supported the event and especially to our generous sponsors who provided prizes and food for the BBQ.
