Space Out Festival

This Thursday, we held a Wellbeing Festival for RUOK Week where students competed to see who could be the most 'chilled' over a 90-minute period of time. Students trained during the weeks leading up to the event, practicing how to 'space out'.

During the 90-minute 'space out', the contestants' heart rates were monitored, with the winner being the student with the most stable heart rate... the most 'chill'. Prizes were generously supplied by Yeperenye Shopping Centre.

On the day, there was a variety of activities for all students to participate in, facilitated by St Philip's staff, Central Australian Aboriginal Congress, Mental Health Association Central Australia, Central Australian Women's Legal Service, Cancer Council and Relationships Australia.

The festival provided an opportunity for the students to engage in mindfulness activities and connect with organisations in town who can support them, and also provided avenues for discussing wellbeing and mental health. We hope that this small start is something that we can build on in years to come.

Thank you to Yeperenye Shopping Centre for sponsoring the event, Yeperenye Woolworths for providing free fruit, juice boxes, and water for the event, and to all of the stall holders who made the effort to attend in their own time.

Congratulations to Ms Hawkins, Ms Shearer, Ms Gill, Mr Donovan and Ms McBryde for their amazing work organising the festival.
