What we are learning!
Maths
In Maths, we have started our new unit on Data! The students are having lots of fun asking questions and finding out more about their classmates, such as “Who likes spiders?” and “Who has a pet?” They are learning how to collect and organise information, using tally marks to record their findings. The students are also beginning to compare their data and talk about what they notice, such as which group has the most or least. It has been a fun and engaging way to explore Maths!
Inquiry
In Inquiry, we have started our new unit on Weather! The students are exploring different types of weather, learning about the seasons and how weather changes throughout the year. We are also investigating how different living things survive in different weather conditions and what they need to grow and stay healthy. To make our learning hands-on, we have planted sunflowers in our classroom and are watering them daily. The students are excited to watch their sunflowers and see if they begin to grow as we continue learning about the things plants need to thrive!
Literacy:
In Literacy, we have started our new unit on Fairy Tales! Last week, we explored Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and this week we are enjoying The Three Little Pigs. The students have loved using the finger puppets to act out each fairy tale, helping them bring the characters and stories to life. We are exploring the different characters, settings and events in each story and discussing what makes a fairy tale special. The students have also started creating their own characters and settings, which they will use to plan and write their very own fairy tale. As the term progresses, we will continue developing our storytelling and writing skills before publishing our finished fairy tales towards the end of the term. We are looking forward to seeing the students' creativity shine through their own stories!
