Lancefield Show success

A huge thank you to all of our families for supporting the LPS staff at the Lancefield Show last weekend. It was such a great success and drew a lot of attention especially our Pick A Prize! We had so many fabulous donations and vouchers which really made for attractive and wonderful prizes. We raised $1,065.50 for our school to support our students learning in 2026. Thank you to the families who helped us set up, pack up and run the stall, we really appreciated your help and support.

Student digital device information for schools - 2027 implementation

From 2027, the Victorian Government is introducing changes to the use of digital devices for students from Prep to Year 6.

Under the new guidelines, schools:

· will no longer invite families to purchase or bring their own digital devices to use at school for Prep to Year 6 (years 3-6 at LPS)

· will follow new recommended digital device times, including minimal device time for Prep to Year 2; and a maximum of 90 minutes per day for years 3 to 6.

These changes are intended to support families by reducing cost-of-living pressures. They will also support students by reducing screen-time which can reduce the risk of eye strain, sedentary behaviour, and reduced peer interaction. These reforms complement Victoria’s nation-leading mobile phone restrictions, ensuring an integrated approach to addressing digital distraction and the inappropriate use of technology.

What this means for our school?

This means we will be ceasing our current BYOC ( bring your own chromebook) program for year 3 from 2027 on. Instead, we will provide class sets of digital devices for use by students. Students who have been using BYO devices prior to 2027 will be able to continue to bring their devices to school, but we will be following the new recommended device use times.

2026 we will still be rolling out our current BYOC program. Information for parents and carers for our current year 2 students will be forwarded in the next couple of weeks.

Artist in Residence

Our Artist in Residence program was a great week of learning all about West African countries and drumming along with some African dance and song. Thank you to NexusArts and Abli for providing our students with such a rich and engaging week. Our whole school performance was amazing with all students so excited to show off their drumming, singing and dancing.

2026 planning is underway.

Class structures and finalised staffing arrangements for the new year will be announced later in term 4. It is really important that we all stay focused on the here and now, learn as much as we can during term 4 and enjoy the rest of 2025. As always, later in the term all students will have the opportunity to nominate students they believe they could work well with (from their year cohort) in 2026 to help inform our decisions on student placement.
