Year 2/3

Reading and Knowledge Building

Lilly- In Knowledge Building we have learnt about some rivers like the Nile, Amazon, Mississippi, Murray and Darling. In the ⅔ classrooms we have an at school project and we are all very excited to start. Parents don't stress you don’t have to help or get the materials or do anything else!

Barry- Lately we have been racking our brains and squeezing them for information on rivers so we can answer our interesting questions. We have learnt so many things! Wildlife on the river, structure of rivers, biggest rivers and dangers of the deep blue.

Writing

Gus- In writing we typed up a holiday recount. All of them were amazing!!!!! Also, we described the how, what, when, where and why.

Isabelle- In Writing we have been doing information reports about rivers. Did you know some are in Australia, in Asia and Africa?

Maths

Corey- In maths we have been learning fractions. People are getting good at fractions. It was very hard to learn fractions.

Barry- Lately in maths we have been doing lots of fractions; we have been doing mathematics every day! All of the 2/3s have been at hard work folding strips of paper and cutting them out. It has been great fun! We have also been trying to master our timestables, everyone has been challenged at every timetable whether it’s 2s or 8s.

Harry- In Maths we have been learning about fractions and practising to get fluency at our times tables. Everyone's got better at their times tables.

Inform and Empower Incursion

Charlotte- At the incursion we were learning about how to be safe online and not to trust anyone you don’t know. You shouldn’t share your personal data, like your location and where you live, or your name and age. And your parents' details.

Willow- We have an Inform & Empower Incursion every term 1 2 3 and 4. We always learn something new. And you get to do a Kahoot and I like Kahoot!

Ruby- Every term the 2/3s do an Inform & Empower Incursion. It's about how to be safe on the internet. You do a kahoot and watch people act out. They spoke about what to do if you get hacked or scammed.

Artist in Residence

Maddison- Artist in Residence was very fun. We did African drumming. The concert started @ 6:00pm on the dot. Each class joined in, which was Prep A, Prep J, 2/3N, 2/3T, 2/3P, 1C, 4/5W, 4/5C and lastly that leaves 6J. So each of these classes got three training sessions which were one hour each.(wow wow). It was hard at first, but as we went it was easier. But our hands were starting to really hurt, sting and itch. It was so fun.

Audrey- First we started with some warmups and then got into the routine, Abli was teaching us. All of it was so exciting. Everyone was seeming to be having a good time. Our routine that we needed to do for the performance seemed very hard at first, then we all got the hang of it. When the day of the performance came we were all so nervous and excited at the same time. By the time we were in the room behind the gym right before the performance we all were beaming. When we went on the stage we straight away started to drum, Abli guided us. When we finished the crowd went silent AND THEN GAVE A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE!!!! We had a great time.

Scarlett- When we did artist and residence an African person named Abli from Ghana came in. He taught us a warm up and then he taught us drumming and a song. We practised a lot in the classroom and on Thursday before we did the whole school practice. Then after we did the practice we went home and then got dressed. Then we went on stage and did our drumming and then after the other classes did it. We did the whole school dance then we went home.

Start Right

Zelda- We have been learning about keeping hands and feet to ourselves. We made Presentations about the school rules, it was amazing.

Alasdair- In school we have been learning school rules like not littering and using bins, not picking up sticks or rocks, don't go out of bounds.

Miles- we have been learning to do the right thing in class. 1 rule is no running in the class.

Auslan

Abby- On the first and second week of school we were learning all about numbers in auslan. We got up to 30. And we learnt a battleship game.
