Preps

It has been a super busy start to the term! Week One we headed off to Kyneton for the Aqua Aware program. The kids loved the time swimming in the pool and a week of carrying swimming bags and looking after their belongings was fantastic for their independence. A big thank you to all the parents and especially Aaron who came along to watch a session and ensured no one went home without all their shoes and socks.
Week Two was the Artist in Residence program and we had a great time learning African drumming from Abli. Despite a fair amount of pre-show nerves, the Preps did a brilliant job with their performance.
This week we had our first cooking session and to say the kids were excited might be the understatement of the century. Never has alphabet bread been made with such enthusiasm and vigour. A big thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came along to help with the session. We are still a few helpers short for the cooking days so if you can help, please come and see Andrew or Jenna.
Today was our Grandparents morning and it was so lovely to see so many special visitors in the school. The Preps absolutely loved showing off their school to their family members. We hope the grandparents were impressed with the work that the kids are doing at school and how well they are reading.
Despite all these super exciting extra-curricular activities we have started the term working really well. In Reading we are looking at comprehension and expression. In Writing we are using words such as ‘and’ ‘but and ‘because’ to turn one idea sentences into two ideas. In Maths we are continuing to look at all things number as well as time.
