House Leadership Reports

APOLLO House Update:

HELLLLOOOOOOO APOLLO!

We’d like to say ‘Welcome to Term 2’ but we’re already halfway through! Nonetheless, we hope everyone’s term has been Amazing, especially to our VCE and IB students as the term ramps up!

As of writing this, Chorals is this Friday the 22nd, we know everyone has been working so hard and practiced so much, and we’re so ready to blow away the competition, because There’s Nothing Holding US back 😜. We know the house, especially our chorals team, has prepared so much and practiced so hard for chorals so we have full faith we’re gonna get into that auditorium and Get It Done 😉. Sing LOUD, sing PROUD and GIVE IT YOUR ALL!

Not too long after chorals, WHICH WE’LL WIN, we have House Dance and House Drama going on too! House Dance, at lunchtime June 4th, is well underway, our team has been practicing hard to get that performance done and to a tee, get ready for us to shimmy on over to first place! House Drama signups are up as well, big points are up for grabs so if you’re feeling a lil shakespearian or like you’re ready for an Oscar winning performance, sign up! House Drama is the last big House Event of the year, and it’s an amazing opportunity to have fun, get on the stage and make new memories, your House Captains can vouch, since we’ve both been in it since it began!

On another note WE WON ACTIVE APRIL!!!! MOST SUBMISSIONS. MOST HOURS. And, it’s all thanks to you guys!!! On behalf of the entire House Team, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for all your submissions, all your hard work and for listening to our constant nagging in the weeks leading up to it. We managed to score some much needed house points and are so, so, so proud of the entire house, thank you all again for all your contributions! In other sports news, Year 12 GBA is going on right now and our team is giving it their all for the top spot, so if you see them during lunch don’t be afraid to give em a shout!

BLACKWOOD HOUSE UPDATE:

HEY HEY HEY BLACKWOOD!!!! 💙⚔️

We hope everyone is having a GREAT start to term 2!! We know it’s been very busy for everyone with assessments and events, but most notably our senior VCE and IB students with the constant onslaught of SACs and IAs - we hope you guys are all keeping in touch with your hobbies and taking a break every once in a while!

Chorals is LITERALLY just around the corner on 22nd May so get ready to bring all the ENERGY and VIBRANCE!!! We have worked so hard over the past weeks with everyone participating in singing during House Assemblies & rehearsals, and it’s honestly showing already… BLACKWOOD is sounding stronger and louder every single day! Keep bringing the hype, confidence, and house spirit because we are READY to take this on and WE WILL WIN!!! We also want to give a shoutout to all the students that are participating in Mass Band, Rock Band, Instrumental and Small Choir!! You guys got this!

Keeping up the spirit, House Sport has been running every lunchtime and the Year 12 GBA competition is officially underway!! 🏀 A huge shoutout to all our Blackwood Year 12s who are currently sitting in SECOND PLACE; keep bringing the energy, teamwork, and Blackwood spirit because we’re coming for that TOP SPOT!! 🔥⚔️ Also, a massive thank you to our Sports Captain, Idalika, for organising our team along with the event. Make sure to come down, support, and cheer everyone on as they bring home the win!! Furthermore, kudos to everyone who submitted their Active April hours. Although we got 4th, it was amazing seeing so many people getting involved, staying active, and contributing to our house spirit!

A notable event coming up soon is House Dance on June 4th. Our dancers have been practicing extremely hard, so make sure to come down quickly to the Auditorium at lunch and watch our AMAZING Blackwood DANCERS as they bring the ENERGY and absolutely OWN THE STAGE💃🪇We also have House drama commencing. Gilly, our Drama captain, is so excited to see so many people signing up already, so keep the sign-ups coming!! 🎭✨

Additionally, a small reminder to all Blackwood Year 12s to buy their formal ticket before its too late!!!!

KOROROIT HOUSE UPDATE:

HELLOOO KOROROIT!!! 🔥🔥🔥🐉

We hope everyone’s having an amazing term 2 so far. Thanks to all your participation, we’ve been able to get more points towards winning that cup!

First, a big thank you to all the artists who participated in House Art, we couldn’t have won it without you. And to all our athletes who ran their best in Cross Country, your efforts have paid off! We came in first place, making that another win for Kororoit. Although we came third for Active April, we’re still so proud of all the hard work you guys put in.

There are a lot more exciting house events coming up so keep a look out. House dance is happening in week 7, and your dance team has been rehearsing super hard behind the scenes. Make sure to support our dancers, and cheer for them!! 🕺🕺

House drama is coming up and we need YOU! To sign up for scripted! We’ve got such an enthusiastic group of people signing up for devised, and we’re still missing that same kinda love for scripted! As your captains who have both been in scripted, We can honestly tell you that it was some of the best times we’ve had getting on stage and taking on a new persona! Be a part of the chorus, sharpen your acting skills, and have fun with friends by signing up for scripted in House Drama.

We write this coming up on the last day of practice for mass singing before the big day, Chorals. The excitement and buzz in the air is palpable as our hardworking and tireless tech crew and performers go through their tech rehearsals in preparation for Chorals. As we write this, Chorals hasn’t happened yet, but we do know how much effort you guys have put into this day, whether you’re another beautiful voice in the crowd, performing up on stage, or keeping the show running backstage. It is amazing to see the drive we all have to come together and make this a memorable event for all of us. A huge shoutout to the best Chorals captain we could have ever asked for, Johanna! It’s through her hard work, all of this is possible! For everyone else, from the captains to all of you, sincerely, thank you for your participation.

ROTHWELL HOUSE UPDATE:

HEY YOUUU ROTHWELLL!!! 📣📣📣 What a way to start off! I know it’s been a hectic start with Year 11s and 12s being bombarded with SACs and the Year 9s and 10s with their tests, but hopefully they all went well and everyone’s feeling great! We’ve had some good wins to kickstart Term 2 and we’ll need everyone’s effort and energy for THE BIG EVENT: Chorals!!

First up, we had Active April in which Rothwell took home second place!! (yesss) 🥈🥈Thank you to everyone who filled out the forms and logged in their hours, you guys are all legends!! This is just a small showcase of how our collective effort can bring massive results, let’s keep it up!With Chorals upcoming on 22nd May, these 2 terms we have been heavily and diligently practicing and singing our hearts out! To build up the hype, we rolled out a new initiative: the Homegroup Lush Life Dance Competition! Every homegroup had the opportunity to show off their creativity and house spirit by performing the iconic dance on our Chorals song, Lush Life by Zara Larsson!! It was amazing to see so many people getting involved and we know we can bring this energy into Chorals and absolutely dominate the competition! Huge thanks to all of the homegroup teachers who truly made this whole thing possible 😀😀Looking forward we’ve got two important events coming up: House Dance and House Drama 🕺🕺🕺. Everyone is putting in lots of work with countless rehearsals and practices, so we’ve got a good feeling about this year! As always, be sure to come down and support our talented Rothwellian dancers and actors, with House Dance happening in the Auditorium at lunchtime on June 4th (week 7 Thursday). The evening performance for House Drama will occur on Thursday, 10th September in Term 3 and the order for the lunchtime performances will be announced later!

House Sport has been running at lunchtimes throughout the term, and we’ve been crushing every house. For the seniors, the GBA season is in full swing and Rothwell is still undefeated!! We’ve booked a trip to the finals and it’s only a matter of time before we win the GBA ⛹️⛹️. For intermediate sport, we’ve been dominating the netball court too and we can bring home the dub as well!! Look out for announcements on the house Google Classrooms and the SCHS Sport Instagram account for details to watch our amazing Rothwellians ball out!

Quick shoutout to all of our musicians in Mass Band, Rock Band, Instrumental and Small Choir!! All your hard work and dedication has led up to Chorals, and we’ve got full confidence that you guys will crush it and make us proud!!

Small reminder that the Year 12s have Formal on Thursday Week 8 (June 11th)!! Make sure to get your tickets if you haven’t already (it closes this Thursday)!
