Community in Action

SCHS Steps Up for Relay4Life

On 28 March, students from Suzanne Cory High School participated in the annual Relay4Life event at Auburn High School alongside other Selective Entry High Schools. Relay4Life is a community fundraising event that brings people together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember those lost to cancer and raise vital funds for Cancer Council’s research, prevention and support services.

Although our team was small, our impact was meaningful. Four Suzanne Cory students attended the event and contributed strongly by helping to maintain the continuous relay throughout the day. Their commitment reflected the spirit of Relay4Life: persistence, teamwork and hope in the fight against cancer. Thank you to Anna Matthew and Tony Zhue Ren for accompanying the Citizenship Captains and representing SCHS at such a well-spirited event!

Together, the Suzanne Cory team raised $115 for Cancer Council Australia. These funds will contribute to important work supporting people affected by cancer, funding research, promoting prevention and helping provide services for individuals and families impacted by the disease.

We are proud of the students who represented Suzanne Cory with enthusiasm, compassion and determination. Even if the day was filled with clouds and heavy showers of rain, we still ran the continuous relay and made some meaningful connections! Everyone’s efforts remind us that even a small team can make a meaningful contribution to a much larger cause.

A Paw-some Bake Sale Success

Hey SCHS!

On Thursday the 14th of May, Paw club ran a cupcake fundraiser where all profits were donated to fourpaws animal welfare charity! If you are interested in looking more into their values and programs visit https://www.four-paws.org.au/

The event took place in T2 during lunchtime, we had an abundant amount of cupcakes to sell and icing and other decorations waiting to be used. It was such an amazing experience being able to see being queueing out the door with excitement alongside their friends.

I would love to acknowledge everyone who contributed when helping in this event, including the teachers, bakers, those who provided decorations, those who helped run the event, paw club members, and of course, all the cupcake decorators!!! Thanks to all of this contribution we were able to raise a total of $95.

Overall, the fundraiser was a huge success for our first time hosting this year, however, this will surely not be the last. If you’re interested in being a part of future organisations and joining Paw club, know you’re absolutely welcome to meet us in G14 Tuesday lunchtime week B.

If you’re keen to meet fellow animal lovers and enjoy relaxing lunchtimes with good company we can’t wait to see you there!!

Kindness Club World's Greatest Morning Tea

Today, the PD Centre was filled with warmth, laughter, and community spirit as the Kindness Club hosted its annual Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser in support of the Cancer Council. Students and staff gathered throughout the day to enjoy sweet treats, tea, and meaningful conversations, all while raising awareness and funds for an important cause.

The event transformed the PD Centre into a welcoming and vibrant space, with members of the Kindness Club working hard behind the scenes to organise decorations, bake sales, activities, and fundraising efforts. From serving food to greeting attendees, the dedication and enthusiasm of the volunteers created an atmosphere that truly reflected the values of kindness, compassion, and community.

More than just a fundraiser, the event encouraged people to come together and connect. Students took the opportunity to spend time with friends, meet new people, and support a cause that impacts many individuals and families across Australia. The generosity shown by everyone who donated, attended, or contributed helped make the day a great success.

The Kindness Club would like to thank all students, staff, and volunteers who supported the event and helped bring the Australia’s Greatest Morning Tea to life. Your contributions, big or small, made a meaningful difference and reminded us of the positive impact a community can have when people come together with kindness at the centre.
