Year 9 Students Challenged to Think Critically About AI

On Wednesday 22 July, our Year 9 students welcomed Evan and David from Elevate Education for a timely Pastoral Care session exploring artificial intelligence and its role in study.

Evan and David are becoming familiar faces to our students, having worked with the group previously. It was wonderful to see the connection they have developed with the students continue to grow.

Using practical and relatable examples, they encouraged students to think carefully about how AI can be used to support learning. Students explored the importance of checking AI-generated information, using technology responsibly and ensuring that AI assists, rather than replaces, their own thinking.

The key message was simple but important: AI can be a valuable tool, but students must continue to question information, think independently and take responsibility for their learning.

It was a practical and highly relevant session that gave students plenty to consider as they continue to navigate the rapidly changing world of AI.
