2026 Chapels & Finding Lost Sheep

Chapel is an important part of our weekly rhythm as a Christ‑centred community. This year our chapels have followed the Lutheran Education Australia theme Free to Flourish, a vision of who we are and who we are becoming: people created for relationship with God and all creation, growing as compassionate, purposeful, adventurous and relational learners.

We began the year focusing on being relational, recognising that God has created us to be deeply connected to him and to one another. In Term 2, chapels centred on compassion, opening our hearts and minds to the experiences of others and responding with love and justice. Our support of Australian Lutheran World Service through Walk My Way gave students a practical way to live this out, helping provide education for refugee children.

This term we are exploring what it means to be adventurous, stepping into the unknown with curiosity, courage and hopeful expectancy. We’ve approached this through the image of sheep. While sheep are not typically adventurous animals, we’ve been reminded that true adventurousness begins with knowing we are held securely in God’s love, something we see clearly in the parable of the Lost Sheep. We can step beyond what feels comfortable because we have security in God, our good shepherd, and his love and care for us.

Finding the Lost Sheep

Last year, our college community enjoyed a light‑hearted challenge: searching for tiny Jesus figurines hidden around the campus. It quickly became a favourite, and after many requests to bring the activity back, we’re delighted to continue the tradition with a fresh twist.

This year, students are taking part in Finding the Lost Sheep, a playful reminder of the way God seeks, knows and cares for each person. Little sheep figurines have wandered across the campus, and students are encouraged to find these lost sheep and return them to Chaplain Fiona in Chapel.

The activity connects with Jesus’ parable of the lost sheep, encouraging students to reflect on God’s love in a simple, memorable way while enjoying a bit of fun and curiosity along the way.  We’re looking forward to more lost sheep being found throughout the term.
