Grade 6 News

Welcome Back to Term 3!
Literacy
In Literacy, students are exploring the historical topic of The Holocaust and are currently writing an Information Report to develop their research, note-taking, and informative writing skills. We are also reading the novel Once by Morris Gleitzman, which is helping students build their comprehension skills and deepen their understanding of this significant period in history through the eyes of a child. In Mathematics, we are beginning our new unit on Patterns, where students will investigate, identify, describe, and create a variety of number and visual patterns. Additionally, a note will be sent home shortly regarding our upcoming camp, including the camp dates and a request for families to indicate whether their child will be attending. Please keep an eye out for this important information.
Mathematics: Patterns
In this unit, students will explore number patterns, identify the rules that create them, and predict future terms. They will also be introduced to simple algebraic equations to record and explain pattern rules, building on their previous learning about number sequences and patterns.
ADANAC CYC Camp 2026
We are excited to announce that students will have the opportunity to attend the ADANAC CYC Camp from 5–7 October 2026 (Term 4).
In the coming days, a note will be sent home to families to indicate whether their child will be attending or not attending the camp. This information is essential for planning and organisation.
Please complete and return the form as soon as possible. Further details regarding camp activities, medical and dietary requirements, and arrangements will be provided once attendance numbers have been confirmed.
