Welcome back to Term 3!
We hope you all had a relaxing Winter break and enjoyed the sunshine after the rain. Students have returned to school ready to learn and have settled back into routines straight away. It’s incredible what a difference a semester of school makes!
We have begun the term by learning 2 new sounds. /w/ for Wally Worm and a third spelling for /c/ using 'c' and 'k'. This is particularly exciting as it is the first time students have learned a spelling pattern involving two letters working together to represent one sound.
In Mathematics, we have begun our new unit on addition. Students are learning to identify the larger number in an addition problem, hold it in their minds, and then count on from that number. They are using a variety of hands-on materials and activities to develop and practise this important strategy.
In Religion, we have begun learning about our special book, the Bible. Over the coming weeks, students will explore why the Bible is so important and will be introduced to a range of stories from both the Old and New Testaments.
A reminder of some upcoming event dates:
- 100 days of school celebration - Friday the 31st of July, parade at 9.10am
- Grandparents liturgy – Wednesday the 12th of August @ 9.15am in the Hall
Information was sent home last week regarding these two dates. If you have any questions, please contact your classroom teacher.
