Grade 3 News

Welcome back to another exciting term of learning. Throughout Week 1 we were blessed with the company of the Grade 4 students who are continuing on their faith journey, committing to their faith through the sacrament of Confirmation. They shared how they have prepared for the sacrament and what the mass was like. We shared a prayer and wish them all the very best.
Term Three has started with a new book, The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. The opening of the book uses incredibly rich and descriptive language, the students have been able to imagine being right there next to the Iron Man on the beach and with Hogarth as they discover who they are.
We begin the term with learning new strategies to solve Multiplication and Division worded problems. Students are learning to identify the key information and decide what the question is asking them to do. They are then applying new and known strategies to solve the problem. Students are strongly encouraged to continue practicing their times tables at home through songs and repeated practice.
We are focusing in Religion on developing a stronger sense of identity, belonging and responsibility. Students have been looking inward to discover who they are, their values, strengths, likes and dislikes. This has been a great conversation piece as we all learn more about who we are and how we have all been made in the image of God.
We look forward to sharing more of our learning at the term progresses.
