Grade 3 and 4 Excursion

On Tuesday 8 September, the Grade 3s and 4s went on an excursion to the Melbourne Museum. We all gathered in the gym around 8.20am. Soon after that the big bus came, and everyone got on. When we arrived it was 10.05am, and we were a little bit late, because there was a lot of traffic. When we got out of the bus we had some fruit.  

After we ate our fruit, we went to the workshop and we talked about our Wonderous Planet. We watched some videos as well and we saw a big map on the screen. Later on, after we talked about our Wonderous Planet, we went to the Gallery, where we tried to look for some animals. We also parted into groups of 6. When we found the animals on our paper we hole punched them.

Next, we went to a mini garden, where we talked about different facts about the animals we saw. Someone even said that whale poop is good for the sea water! 

Then we went to go on a forest walk, where we saw a lot of nature things. We also went inside this cool cave! 

Later, we went to the Dinosaur Exhibition, for 10 minutes, where we saw lots of dinosaur bones, big and small. I just figured out that pterodactyls are way bigger than a human! 

There were big dinosaurs, small dinosaurs, dinosaurs that could fly and dinosaurs with very, very long necks.

After that, we went outside to eat our lunch in the hot sun, and we talked to each other.

Finally, after we had finished our lunch, we had a choice to see the dinosaurs, to stay outside in the sun, or to see the Historical Gallery. I went to see the Dinosaur Exhibition, where they also had Bugs Alive. In Bugs Alive there were alive bugs, and spiders. We also saw a Malaria Mosquito!

I had a lot of fun in the Melbourne Museum. My favourite thing was the Gallery. It was great! I had a great time at the Melbourne Museum!

On Tuesday last week, Grade 3s and 4s went on an excursion to the Melbourne Museum. We all gathered in the gym at around 8.20am. Later, Mr. Bunyon explained the instructions and that some boys had to go on the small bus and the rest of them went on the big bus. As we were going, we saw lots of different cars, buildings and places. After about 45minutes we finally arrived at the Melbourne Museum and got off the bus. When we sat down, we quickly ate our fruit and snack then entered the museum.

Firstly, we went in the workshop and watched a video about the different places around Australia. Soon after, he gave out paper and a hole puncher so we could explore the gallery. We had to find the correct answers on the paper. After that we went to the mini garden for a little chat and headed back to the museum.

Secondly, we went for are relaxing forest walk and we even went in a cave and saw fish, crystals, plants and mini waterfalls. We also saw some insects and bugs there. It was really quiet there and the place smelled fresh.

Thirdly, we went into the dinosaur exhibition where we saw many dinosaur bones and teeth. We also saw different types of dinosaurs and saw what the earth looked like billions of years before.

Finally, we ate our lunch as we were all starving walking around the museum. I ate a sandwich because I was hungry, but not that hungry. Not long after we had our food, we were given options between staying outside, going to the dinosaur exhibition or going to the historical gallery. I chose to stay outside because we had fun and the sun was shining. When they came back we packed our bag and left. I said goodbye to the museum while we drove back to school. I enjoyed the trip because the weather was great and there were lots of interesting things to see. I would love to visit the museum again.

Overall, we had fun exploring the Melbourne Museum.
