Wildfire Visit
On Thursday, 27 August we welcomed Wildfire to Mater Dei. Proclaim Lismore Wildfire, or 'Wildfire,' is a contemporary Catholic Worship Team from the Diocese of Lismore. Praising God through worship since 2018, Wildfire travels to primary and secondary schools around Australia to invite students and staff to encounter Jesus, and live life to the full.
62 Mater Dei students, including our Elective Music students, students who have expressed interest in the 2027 Year 10 Spiritus Class, and selected Youth Ministry students, attended the morning's workshop. The ministry team used live music to invite students to encounter Jesus, and live life to the full.
Day In The Diocese
A fantastic group of Mater Dei students attended the ‘Day in the Diocese’ gathering on Friday 28 August. The day was for young people from schools across our Diocese to come together, celebrate their faith, encounter Jesus and discover what it means to be hope-filled students in today’s world.
“Day in the Diocese was a memorable experience that brought us to God and each other through prayer, worship and song.
We were given the opportunity to participate in workshops and a liturgy alongside other schools within our diocese. Our favourite part of the day was the Wildfire performance as it allowed us to connect with our faith through song and dance”.

Fr Grace's Silver Jubilee and Parish Schools Mass
On Saturday 17 October at 5.30pm we will join with Mater Dei Primary School and Sacred Heart Primary School to celebrate Mass at Sacred Heart Kooringal. Everyone is welcome to join us!
This day also marks Father Grace’s Silver Jubilee. We will celebrate Mass, followed by dinner in the Sacred Heart Primary School Hall.
Socktober
Socktober is a powerful way to bring communities together during Mission Month to support children in need around the world. At the heart of the program is the sockball - a symbol of hope in many communities. Made using recycled materials, it reflects how children overseas persevere and find joy through sport, despite facing daily challenges.
This year, we are raising awareness and funds for communities in Malawi, to help ensure children have access to food and education, giving them the chance to build a brighter future. Please mark in your calendars ‘Silly Socks for Socktober’ on Friday 30 October. On the day, students are encouraged to bring a gold coin donation and wear silly/odd socks with their Sports Uniform.
Year 12 Retreat - Week 2 Term 4
Our Year 12 Retreat is fast approaching. If you haven’t already, please complete the Compass consent form. As our Class of 2027 prepares for the Retreat, let us keep them in our prayers, asking that they may grow in faith, friendship and hope.
Prayer for Year 12 - Graduation Assembly Prayer
Loving God, creator of all that is good,
As we gather to celebrate the accomplishments of our Year 12 students, we thank you for the gifts they have shared with our Mater Dei community and their families.
May they be blessed with continued health, happiness, and success in their future endeavours.
May they carry with them the values instilled in them at Mater Dei: compassion, wisdom, and a commitment to living God's message.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
