Japanese

It was another busy term in the world of Japanese at Mater Dei. The first half of the term saw excitement grow as we waited for our Japanese visitors to arrive. Thanks to our wonderful host families for looking after the students. The Japanese students and host students participated in a variety of activities together, including Behind the Scenes at the Botanic Gardens Zoo, a game of Frisbee Golf at the Rawlings Range, and an introduction to Aboriginal culture and dance.  The students also visited regular classes, giving our students a chance to use and hear authentic Japanese.  Yr 11 students realised just how much they could say as they practised conversations with native speakers.

Year 8 students have learned about Japanese food this term, and should now be able to order for the whole family on any upcoming holidays! Year 9 students have been working on their communication skills and have been building their Japanese speaking skills. Days, dates, hobbies and plans are now part of their repertoire.

Sixteen very excited Year 10 students have been preparing for their excursion to Japan, which will take place in the upcoming holidays. They will spend 2 weeks travelling in Japan and will have the opportunity to visit our friends in Nishiawkura, spending a day at school and experiencing a local festival.  We wish them a safe and wonderful trip!
