Victorian Challenge & Enrichment Games Day 2025
The air was filled with excitement and anticipation as 32 enthusiastic Year 7 and Year 8 students gathered to take part in the Victorian Challenge & Enrichment Games Day on Monday, 20th October.
This annual event, organised by the Mathematical Association of Victoria, brings together students from across the state to tackle a series of challenging and thought-provoking mathematical problems. Working collaboratively in teams, students were encouraged to think critically, communicate effectively, and apply their mathematical reasoning under time pressure. (Could you estimate how many dots are in the diagram below in just five minutes? This diagram simulates floating garbage in oceans!)
Throughout the day, our students demonstrated excellent teamwork, focus, and perseverance. The atmosphere was buzzing with energy as they collaborated to solve complex problems and enjoyed the spirit of friendly competition.
We are proud to share that one of our Year 7 teams achieved 3rd place overall — an outstanding accomplishment! Congratulations to Jayden Wei, Ryan Chhun, Alejandro Villegas, and Zac Keene on this fantastic result.
A big well done to all students who participated — you represented Parkdale Secondary College with enthusiasm, teamwork, and pride.
Well done Jayden on some outstanding results in several Maths competitions this year!

Jump and Smash
The Tuesday afternoon Maths support that runs for an hour from 3:20pm has been a big hit this year. Congratulations to the 733 students that have participated, going above and beyond to improve their maths skills.
Big thanks go to the Maths staff members for turning up each week, whether they were rostered on or not, to support the students improve their understanding and results.
Can’t wait for this to continue in 2026!
