Wellbeing

On Wednesday November 19th, Parkdale Secondary College hosted our second Respect Cup day with Year 8 Students. This whole day program, in collaboration with staff from Better Health Network, Women's Health in the South East (WHISE) and Brother Nature, focused on the delivery of Respectful Relationships Curriculum to not only support our students, staff and community, but also to acknowledge 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

The morning started with inspiring presentations from Dani McCaffrey (WHISE) and Jai Tao (Brother Nature) who challenged us all to think about what respect is, the complex issues that young people face and how we can all support each other to improve ourselves and our communities.

Our Year 8 teachers then delivered thoughtful and powerful sessions taken from the Respectful Relationships curriculum that focused on Upstander Behaviours, Relationships Dynamics, Positive Self Talk, Human Rights and Gender Equality.

Students then had a choice of activities in the afternoon that all had a strong focus on Respect, Safety, Kindness, Fairness and Participation - including one group of student volunteers, our "Respect Is..." group who created the content and media you see attached!

A donation was also made to the team at South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault (SECASA) following our efforts to fundraise and support the work of this valuable local service. Thank you to all staff, students and community organisations alike that supported such a successful day!
