Inquiry:

In Inquiry, the students have been exploring chemical science. They have been developing their questioning skills and forming hypotheses as they investigate different scientific ideas and begin to think like scientists. The students over the next couple of weeks will be taking part in a range of chemical science experiments, be sure to ask what they have done!

Literacy:

In Literacy, the students explored ANZAC Day through themed texts, learning about its significance and why we remember those who served our country. They also followed a procedure to make ANZAC biscuits, learning about the ingredients and steps involved before enjoying a delicious treat.

The students have also been reading Iggy Peck, Architect. Through this story, they explored Iggy’s creativity and perseverance, discussed the events in the text, and shared their own ideas about designing and building. Inspired by the story, they began creating their own cubby house designs.

Maths:

In Maths, students are developing their understanding of numbers and place value. We are learning that teen numbers have a 1 in the tens column and practising how to read and write two-digit numbers in both words and numerals. Students are also learning to count on using a number line to support their addition strategies.

As our number knowledge grows, we are exploring regrouping collections to 1000 to help with efficient counting, comparing and ordering three-digit numbers, and identifying missing numbers on a number chart. These activities help strengthen students’ number sense and confidence when working with larger numbers.

Religion:

In Religious Education, the students explored the Godly Play story of Jesus’ Resurrection. They learned about the events of Easter morning when the women discovered the empty tomb. The students shared their thoughts about how the women may have felt and reflected on the message of hope and new life that the Resurrection brings.
