A Word from Justin
Term 2, Week 2 - Friday 1st May, 2026
Dear Families of OLSC,
Term 2 is off and running and what a busy start it has been. I hope all of the community had a restful time at Easter spent with family and friends.
As Mother’s Day approaches next week, we take a moment to celebrate the incredible women who nurture, guide and inspire us every day. To all the mothers, grandmothers, carers, and special women in our community, thank you for the love, patience and strength you share so generously. Your support shapes not only your children’s lives, but our entire community.
On this special day, we hope you feel appreciated and celebrated for all that you do. May your day be filled with love, laughter and a little time just for you. I hope that you get to spend quality time with your loved ones.
Happy Mother's Day
To all of the hardworking staff at OLSC I sincerely thank you for your dedication, care and support of all in our community during Term 1.
At our final assembly last term we farewelled 2 members of staff and thanked them for their time at OLSC.
On behalf of the community I thank you Jacq for being at OLSC in the role of Performing Arts teacher. Jacq really had a chance to demonstrate her skills in planning, preparing and delivering our school performance, The Wizard of Oz last year.
Jacq is having some time away from teaching following what was a very tough start to the year personally, mainly the passing of her father.
Beth has taken on the role of Deputy Principal at St Ilipuis in Ballarat. As a Ballarat local she will gain back many hours a week that she spent travelling to Manor Lakes.
Jodie Hartnup, who has been teaching at OLSC in a number of capacities has taken on the role of Learning Centre Leader (LC4) and Learning and Teaching Coach. In just Jodie's first 2 weeks in the role she has proven herself to be well worthy of this position.
Zoya has taken on the role of Performing Arts Teacher and has settled into the role in an impressive way. Performing Arts is currently being held in the Sports Centre while we are building and Zoya and the students have risen to this challenge.
On Wednesday 29th April I had the pleasure of attending the interschool cross country at Werribee Racecourse with 57 of our students from Years 3 to 6. OLSC was represented in an impressive way by all of the students and their efforts on the run was remarkable. Well done to all of our runners.
Thank you to Michelle for organising and Leeza and Jodie for coming along. I'd also like to thank the many parents that attended to help supervise and support.
Six of our students placed in the top 10 and will now move to the next level, being the regionals. Congratulations Flynn, Charlie, Sophie, Athiak, Manus and Dev!
This week, after some waiting there was some progress on the build site for our new discovery centre. It was exciting to arrive at school on Thursday to see a crane onsite unloading frames. Let's hope the momentum continues.

If anyone in your family has an achievement that could be shared in the newsletter and is worthy of celebration and acknowledgement, please email Justin to be included in the next newsletter.
