Principal's Report

On behalf of the Blackburn High School Principal Team, we are delighted to reflect on what has been an incredibly exciting and successful Term One for both our students and staff.
The year began with a positive and energetic tone, setting high expectations for the months ahead. Our first full week was a particularly busy and vibrant time, with school photos, our much-loved House T-Shirt Day and the swimming carnival which demonstrated enthusiasm, participation, and outstanding sportspersonship from all involved.
A true highlight of the term was our extraordinary House Performing Arts Festival. The talent, creativity, and teamwork on display were nothing short of inspiring, and it was fantastic to see so many students actively contributing both on and off the stage.
Congratulations to this years winner, Freeman House. Events like this continue to strengthen our sense of belonging and house pride across the school.
We are also eagerly anticipating our upcoming trip to Generations in Jazz, where over 100 of our students and staff will represent Blackburn High School. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and showcase our strong music program, and we wish all involved the very best for what promises to be an unforgettable experience.
We would like to particularly acknowledge our Year 7 students, who have made an excellent start to their secondary school journey. It has been pleasing to see how well they have settled into their new environment, embracing the wide range of transition activities designed to support them. Their enthusiasm and willingness to get involved have been commendable.
Another standout achievement this term was from our Robotics Club, who travelled to Sydney to compete against schools from across the country. Finishing 14th out of 50 schools is an outstanding accomplishment, and we congratulate all students involved for their innovation, teamwork, and dedication.
As we celebrate our 70th anniversary this year, there is much to look forward to. We are excited to welcome members of our community to upcoming school tours and our anniversary concert, which will highlight the rich history and future of Blackburn High School.
We thank our students, staff, and families for contributing to such a positive and productive Term One. We wish everyone a fantastic and successful Term Two.The Principal Team
