House Sports Tournament
On Thursday, 19 February, we held our first ever House Sports Tournament. It was a fantastic afternoon packed with fun novelty events and a variety of other challenges, including Egg and Spoon Race, Sack Race, Three-Legged Race, Tunnel Ball, Wheelbarrow Race, Obstacle Course, Tug of War, Beep Test Relay, Keepy Uppy Challenge, Hula Hoop Challenge and Basketball Knockout.
Students from all year levels participated enthusiastically, and as the photos show, everyone had a great time. Congratulations to Barty, the winning House and well done to Betts, Freeman and Mills for their strong efforts. A big thank you to all students for giving their best and making the day so enjoyable.
Some of the feedback we received included:
"I had so much fun with my friends"
The sports day was "absolutely awesome"
"...probably one of the best days I have ever had"
"I liked how the activities were set up all around the oval, like a carnival"
"Loved the variety of activities on offer"
"It was a really fun afternoon"
"It was awesome - we should do this every term"
Thanks to Ms Erjavec and the SRC, who ran a fabulous sausage sizzle with all proceeds going to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
A special thank you to Ms Morrow for organising the day, as well as the P.E. team, Sports Captain, House Captains and all the staff for helping make the afternoon such a brilliant experience.
We look forward to the Athletics Carnival on the last day of term, giving the other Houses a chance to catch up and continue the fun!
Intermediate and Senior Boys Cricket
Our Intermediate and Senior Boys Cricket Teams recently competed in the Cardinia Division interschool sport competition. Both teams had a great experience, each securing a win and building their skills throughout the games.
Students showed excellent teamwork and sportsmanship, demonstrating great behaviour both on the field and off while continuing to develop their cricket abilities.
We congratulate all players on their effort and commitment this season.
Free Year 7 Netball and Basketball Development Programs
Our Year 7 Netball Training Program and Year 7 Pakenham Warriors Basketball Development Program both started strongly this term, with students showing great enthusiasm and commitment at the early morning training sessions.
In Netball, under the expert guidance of Coach David Sollberger and Ms Rhodes-Anderson, students have been focusing on building their core skills, improving their understanding of the game and developing confidence on court. Sessions have included skill development activities, teamwork exercises and modified match play to help students grow in both ability and game awareness.
Meanwhile, our basketballers have been training hard with Bee from the Pakenham Warriors and Mr Moses. Students have been working on strengthening their fundamental skills and developing their confidence through structured drills and small-sided games. The program is designed to support students at all levels as they build their understanding of the sport.
It has been fantastic to see students listening carefully to feedback and embracing the opportunity to develop their skills in a positive and encouraging environment.
Both programs are free of charge, run during term time and take place in our gymnasium:
Basketball – Wednesdays, 7.45am–8.30am
Netball – Thursdays, 7.30am–8.30am
Students only need to bring their runners and a water bottle to participate.
If any Year 7 student would like to join either of these free programs, please email carolyn.fulgoni@education.vic.gov.au for further information.
