Year 9 Morrisby Testing
Commencing Monday, 2 March, our Year 9 students will begin their Morrisby testing, an important part of the College’s career and pathway program. The Morrisby Assessment is designed to help students explore their interests, strengths and potential career directions. Through the program, students complete a series of activities and questionnaires that provide insights into their skills, learning preferences and suitable career pathways.
The results of the Morrisby Assessment will support students in making informed decisions about subject choices and future study or career options. The program also includes follow-up discussions with teachers and career advisors, helping each student plan their next steps with confidence.
Important reminder: All Year 9 students must bring their laptops to school on Monday (2 March) to complete the online testing.
We look forward to seeing our students engage with this valuable program and gain insights into their individual strengths and future opportunities.
Year 10 Work Experience Program
MONDAY 22 JUNE TO FRIDAY 26 JUNE 2026
The Year 10 Work Experience Program will run from Monday 22 June 2026 to Friday 26 June 2026 (the last week of Term 2).
This program is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain firsthand experience of the world of work and to help them consider their preferred post-school pathways. All Year 10 students are expected to participate, as Work Experience is a compulsory unit in the Year 10 Humanities program.
Students will receive a Work Experience Arrangement Form during class. We encourage them to secure a placement as soon as possible. All sections of the form must be fully completed, as they are legally required. Students are expected to find an employer willing to host them for the week of Work Experience. If students encounter difficulties arranging a placement, please contact the Careers and Pathways Office at the College.
The completed form is due to the Careers and Pathways Office by Friday, 29 May 2026.
A copy of the form will also be available on Compass, under Futures, English, or Work-Related Skills - Learning Tasks. If additional copies are needed, please download them from Compass, as the details have been entered.
Students are also legally required to complete online Occupational Health and Safety tests before commencing Work Experience. These tests will be completed at school, under teacher supervision and will be introduced in their Humanities class.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Lesley McKay in the Careers and Pathways Office on 5945 1433.

Have you thought about being an Accountant?
When you hear “accounting,” what do you picture? Be honest. Suits. Spreadsheets. Someone who lives for tax season? Yeah… not quite. Accounting is one of the most future-proof, flexible careers out there right now. It can take you into tech, sport, music, media, startups, you name it. And no, you don’t have to be a maths genius to get started. Becoming a Chartered Accountant is basically a global passport. It’s a qualification that opens doors anywhere in the world. Just ask Rishabh, who went from Melbourne to Manhattan to work at his dream job at Google. Or Anthony, who balances running a business with being a literal rockstar.
Not your average 9–5. Not your average career.
Careers today don’t follow straight lines. People move between roles, industries, and even countries. What you might not know is that accounting is one of the most versatile careers out there, with skills that can take you anywhere you want to go!
No such thing as one size fits all
One of the biggest myths about accounting is that it’s all suits, spreadsheets and crunching numbers all day. We are here to prove that ain’t it, and there’s plenty of proof!
Take Anthony De Filippis (rockstar by night). He’s a Chartered Accountant who completely breaks this stereotype. With long hair and a love of music, Anthony combines accounting with his passion, working on creative projects while building his business on his own terms. His career proves that you don’t have to choose between being creative and having fun with numbers.
New tech = New accounting careers
Accounting today is largely powered by technology. Automation handles repetitive tasks, giving accountants more time to analyse data, solve problems, and get creative! As AI grows, the need for accountants who can think critically and tell the story behind the data only increases. That’s why accounting keeps evolving and needs people like you!
Chartered Accountant and AI boss, Kayur Patel, is the definition of a tech-forward thinker, the kind who says “Nah, AI can handle that”. Now Director in the Gen AI space at PwC New Zealand, he lives and breathes helping organisations use AI to make work faster and way smarter!
One qualification, endless options
Becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA) is like taking your game to the next level in the world of accounting. It’s a globally recognised qualification that gives accountants a serious edge in the fast-changing job market.
One of the biggest perks? Flexibility, the CA designation can take you almost anywhere. Think fashion, music, sport, gaming, healthcare, government, startups, and global brands.
Take Rishabh Tandon CA, who went from Melbourne, Australia, to New York to work at Google’s global headquarters. It’s a real-world example of how a CA qualification can take your career global!
The world will always need accountants
So, there is your proof that today accounting is creative, people-focused, and far removed from outdated stereotypes. The profession is full of diverse thinkers bringing fresh ideas and smart problem-solving to every industry.
