Grade Prep
In P.E., our Preps have been developing their two-handed striking skills through fun and engaging striking and fielding games. Students have been learning how to position their bodies correctly to strike, hit a ball off a tee using two hands, and understand how bases work, including when to stop and wait at a base. They have also been practising their fielding skills by learning how to watch and collect the ball, return it to the tee and get ready for the next player. Through these activities, students have been building their hand-eye coordination, movement skills and understanding of simple game rules while having lots of fun being active!
Grade One and Two
In P.E., our Grade 1 and 2 students have been developing their two-handed striking and fielding skills through a range of fun and engaging games. Students have been practising their striking technique, hitting the ball off a tee and learning how to run safely between bases, including when to stop and wait at a base. They have also been developing their fielding skills by learning how to position themselves in different fielding formations and working together as a team to stop and return the ball. Through these activities, students have been building their hand-eye coordination, teamwork, movement skills and understanding of the rules and strategies used in striking and fielding games.
Grade Three and Four
In P.E., our Grade 3 and 4 students have been developing their volleyball skills through a range of fun and challenging activities. Students have been learning and practising key skills including underarm serving, setting and digging, while developing their ability to control and move the ball with increasing accuracy. They have also been applying these skills in modified games of volleyball, learning how to work together as a team and make decisions during game play. Students have been introduced to volleyball rotations and have been practising where to stand, when to rotate and how to move into the correct position during a game. It has been fantastic to see students building their confidence, teamwork and understanding of volleyball throughout the unit!
Grade Five and Six
In P.E., our Grade 5 and 6 students have been developing their volleyball skills through a combination of skill-based activities and modified volleyball games. Students have been practising key skills including underarm serving, setting and digging, while focusing on moving towards the ball and positioning themselves effectively during game play. They have been spending more time applying these skills in games, developing their ability to communicate, work together as a team and make decisions during rallies. Students have also been learning where to stand on the court, how to rotate and how to move into position to support their teammates. It has been great to see students building their confidence, teamwork and game awareness throughout the unit.
P.E Curriculum, Term 3 Week 7-10
Grade Prep - Two
For the next four weeks of Term 3, students from Prep to Two will be practising how to hold and kick a variety of different balls in class as well as playing lots of fun games where they can apply the skills they have learnt.
Grade 3- 6
For the next four weeks of Term 3, students from Grade Three to Six will be learning the skills of AFL and will be applying those skills in a variety of modified handballing and kicking games.
AFL Sporting Schools
Starting on Tuesday the 25th of August, AFLSporting Schools coaches' will be coaching AFL to our students that have P.E classes on a Tuesday. Students will benefit from AFL coaching for the next four consecutive Tuesdays.
