Principal's  Report

What a wonderful and busy month August has been at Aitken Hill Primary School!

It has been fantastic to see our students embracing the many learning opportunities, celebrations and special events that have taken place across the school. Our school community has once again demonstrated the care, enthusiasm and teamwork that make Aitken Hill such a special place to learn.

Celebrating Book Week

Book Week has been a wonderful celebration of reading and imagination across our school. Our students and staff embraced the opportunity to celebrate their favourite books and characters, with our Book Week Parade providing a fantastic morning of colour, creativity and fun.

A huge thank you to our families for supporting students to participate and to our staff for the tremendous effort that went into making Book Week such a memorable experience. Our Book Fair was also a great success, encouraging our students to discover new books and develop a love of reading.

AFL Footy Day

Our AFL Footy Day was a fantastic success for our students! It was great to see everyone getting into the spirit of the day and proudly wearing their favourite team's colours.

Well done to all of our students who participated in the Footy Challenge in the gym at recess and lunchtime. There was plenty of skill, enthusiasm and friendly competition as students attempted to handball or kick the ball into the bin or trolley.

Congratulations to our challenge winners — what a great effort!

A big thank you to Tracey in our canteen for all the delicious lunches. A special thank you to everyone who donated their gold coin — together we raised an amazing $395! Every little bit counts, and we are one step closer to reaching our big fundraising goal!

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a fun celebration of Australian Rules football. We hope everyone enjoys the AFL Finals Series over the next few weeks.

Good luck to everyone's team!

Learning Beyond the Classroom

August has also provided our students with some fantastic experiences beyond the classroom. We have enjoyed performances and incursions, including the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Tony Bones and our many curriculum-based learning experiences.

These opportunities enrich the learning that takes place every day in our classrooms and provide students with opportunities to make connections between their learning and the wider world.

District Athletics

Congratulations to all of our students who represented Aitken Hill Primary School at the District Athletics Carnival on Friday 28 August at Meadowglen International Athletics Stadium!

We are incredibly proud of the way our students competed, supported one another and represented our school. It was wonderful to see their determination, sportsmanship and commitment throughout the day.

Well done, team!

A special thank you to Pepe and Steph for organising the day and for their ongoing support of our students as they develop their skills, confidence and passion for sport. Your time and commitment are greatly appreciated.

Celebrating Our Students and Staff

I continue to be incredibly proud of the way our students demonstrate our CARE values each day — Caring for learning, caring for self, caring for others and caring for our school.

We have seen so many examples of students showing kindness, perseverance, responsibility and pride in their school. I would also like to acknowledge our staff, who work tirelessly behind the scenes and in classrooms to provide our students with rich, engaging and supportive learning experiences.

A special thank you goes to everyone who contributed to our recent art projects and the creation of our CARE tile sign. The finished work is a wonderful representation of our school community and the collective effort of our students and staff.

Looking Ahead

As we move towards the final weeks of Term 3, our focus remains firmly on learning, wellbeing and ensuring every student continues to make strong progress.

Thank you to our parents and carers for your ongoing support. The partnership between home and school is incredibly important, and we appreciate the encouragement you provide to your children and the trust you place in our staff.

There is still plenty happening as we head towards the end of the term, and I look forward to seeing our students continue to Learn, Grow and Fly.

Thank you for being such an important part of the Aitken Hill Primary School community.
