Wear it Purple Day

Wear It Purple Day at GSC
On the 29th of August Gisborne Secondary College celebrated “Wear It Purple Day” to show support for LGBTQIA+ young people in our school. It reminded us how important it is to accept and respect everyone, no matter who they love or how they identify.
Many LGBTQIA+ students have faced bullying or felt alone, but by wearing purple, we showed that our school is a safe and welcoming place. A group of students alongside the wellbeing team hosted a lunch time activity - a photo booth and the sale of cookies and cupcakes. Although the weather was not in our favour, it turned out to be a successful fundraising event.
All proceeds from the day will be donated to Minus 18.
