Chess Club Championship
After a four-month tournament involving 18 players, Year 11 students Charlie F and Archie D-H emerged as the top contenders. The two met on Tuesday at lunchtime for the deciding match to crown this year’s champion.
- Game 1: Charlie F dominated with the black pieces, outplaying Archie in both the opening and middle game to secure a swift victory.
- Game 2: Archie responded brilliantly, demonstrating impressive composure as he outplayed Charlie throughout the entire game, earning a win with the black pieces.
- Game 3 (Decider): Archie gained an early advantage out of the opening, but Charlie fought back with precise play. After a miscalculation from Archie, Charlie capitalized and secured the win in a thrilling conclusion.
With a 2–1 victory, Charlie F was crowned Chess Club Champion.
