Careers & Headstart

Careers service

This term, many Year 10 students have gained valuable insights through their work experience placements. If you’re interested in taking part in extra work experience opportunities, don’t hesitate to drop by the Careers office soon to get started while there’s still time!

Our VCE students are currently navigating the VTAC application process and selecting university courses. We’ve also been holding subject selection consultations to help ensure everyone meets the necessary prerequisites for their chosen career paths.

A great number of students have taken advantage of university open days and experience events, giving them firsthand exposure to their future options. It is also wonderful for a student to gain experience at university life and to see if the university is a great fit for them.

It’s been a busy and productive term in the Careers office, with many students actively engaging with our services to shape their futures.

Headstart

What a term it’s been at Gisborne Secondary College! We’re so proud of our students who are taking charge of their futures through the Headstart program.

After a busy subject selection period, students are already gaining valuable workplace experience in a variety of industries, including:

  • Electrical
  • Roof Plumbing
  • Agricultural
  • Automotive
  • Building
  • Engineering
  • Fitter & Turner

A huge thank you to our local employers for providing these fantastic opportunities. This hands-on experience is the perfect way for our young people to find their passion and the right career fit.

The Headstart program helps students begin a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship while they complete their education.
