Kevan Abraham, Year 12, Plenty Campus

Hi everyone! My name is Kevan, and I’m excited to be one of your 2026 School Captains. I’m passionate about my faith and education. I enjoy music, and I sing and play instruments in my free time. I also love movies and TV, especially shows like The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and the DC universe. When it comes to food, nothing beats kothu roti, goat curry, or pizza.
As a leader this year, I really want to bring an emphasis on co-curricular involvement — encouraging everyone to find something they love and dive into it wholeheartedly. Whether it’s music, sport, debating, or community service, I believe these experiences are what make our school life truly meaningful.
At the end of the year, I hope to be remembered as someone who worked hard, stayed true to my values, and genuinely cared about others — someone who left the School just a little better than they found it.
Xavier Chy, Year 12, Ridgeway Campus

Hi everyone! I’m Xavier, one of your 2026 School Captains, and I’m excited to share a bit about myself. I’ve been part of Ivanhoe Grammar School since Year 7, starting at Plenty Campus before moving to Ridgeway Campus in Year 10. My favourite sport is swimming, though I also love playing basketball, tennis, and golf. Outside of sport, I enjoy spending time with friends, cooking, shopping, and listening to music. When it comes to food, I will eat almost everything, but my favourite would have to be Italian food, but I’m also a big fan of Asian cuisine. I’m currently completing the IB Diploma, and my favourite subjects are Biology and Chemistry. As for extra-curriculars, I’m also involved in the Cadet Program, the Service and Outreach Committee, and SALT.
This year, I hope to bring enthusiasm, teamwork, and positivity to our school community, and to leave behind a legacy that makes school life more enjoyable for everyone, inspiring others to keep striving for their best.
If you ever want to chat, you’ll probably find me around the cafeteria, library, or oval, so always feel free to say hi!
Maya Hopper, Year 12, Plenty Campus

My name is Maya, and I am honoured to have this opportunity to represent the School as a Captain this year! I have been a part of this amazing community since Year 7, when I moved from a small country primary school along with my two triplet siblings. Having grown up on a farm, I’ve always been surrounded by animals and I would love to pursue a career in veterinary medicine after school, which I believe has instilled the values of compassion and dedication. My other interests include piano, cooking, and reading, and I also enjoy spending time travelling with my family.
As a School Captain, my aim is to inspire students to connect within and between their year levels, particularly through co-curricular involvement. I believe a range of activities that I’ve participated in during my time at Ivanhoe, including music, Cadets, debating and service trips have transformed me as a person and allowed me to build strong connections, and this is something I would love to help others achieve through this role. In doing so, I aim to further cultivate the involvement, compassion and collaboration that defines our school.
When my time at Ivanhoe Grammar School comes to a close, I hope to be remembered as someone who led with heart – with genuine interest, care and empowerment that inspired others to connect, support one another and develop themselves with authenticity as young people of character.
All the best for the coming year!
Elizabeth Tan, Year 12, Ridgeway Campus

Hello everyone! My name is Elizabeth, but most people call me Liz, and I’m honoured to be your 2026 School Captain alongside Xavier Chy, Maya Hopper and Kevan Abraham. I first joined Ivanhoe Grammar School Gin 2015 and have been part of this amazing community ever since. My family has deep roots here (people like to joke about the “Tan Clan”) with 12 cousins and siblings at Ivanhoe, from Year 12 all the way down to ELC 3!
One of my favourite parts of school life is the volleyball community. This year, I’ve had the privilege of being appointed Captain of the Firsts Girls Volleyball team, and I’m so excited to see our team grow, improve, and hopefully bring home the premiership cup! Outside of school, my favourite TV show is ‘Grey’s Anatomy '. I love the mix of drama, emotion, and intense moments.
As School Captain, I hope to help create a more inclusive environment that strengthens connections across our junior schools, all three campuses, middle years, and international students. I’d love to see our Prefect team work as one cohesive unit, supporting one another to tackle challenges together, and launch meaningful initiatives for the school community.
We’ve already started working on some exciting projects, and I can’t wait to see them come to life! Please don’t hesitate to come say hi, I’m always happy for a chat. Whether it’s about a problem, an idea, or just how your day’s going.
