Global Leaders Update
Aya Mohammed & Ava Sun, Year 6, Buckley House
In Global Leader meetings we have been running a competition to promote correct use of the bins. In this competition, your goal as a class will be to decorate your bin with a poster, showing what goes in each bin. By doing this, we believe as global captains, that we can help young minds (like preps) know what goes in each bin and help them to develop a knowledge for bins. This is all from th global captains and now we will hear some quotes from the global leaders.
"I like the competiton because it will help kids know what goes in each bin" -Jenna Mohammed
Graduation Preparation
Olivia Papaevangelou, Year 6, Buckley House
On Friday the 12th of October, the Year 6s started their graduation dance for the end of year celebration. It was very exciting for all, but some were a bit sad and nervous going into Year 7 amd leaving Buckley House. As we all gathered in the Innovation Centre to learn our dance, the energy was beaming of excitement. Everyone was sitting in the middle as our teacher introduced us to our dance instructor Jackie, who is very nice and has great choreography. Before we started we spread out across the room to stretch just for a bit. Jackie, our dance teacher, put on our graduation song that we will dance to, and everybody loved it. After a couple of minutes we had learnt some of our dance routine, we all love the dance and are very happy, and think it will be great. No one can believe how far we've come in our years of Buckley House, and can't wait to face new challenges in secondary school.

Round Square
Sanoak Thenuwara, Year 6, Buckley House
In Term 3, a group of students had the wonderful and exciting opportunity to attend the Round Square Cluster Conference at Kinglake.
On the first day, students met participants from other schools and joined the mixed activity groups. They participated in team challenges like balancing a giant seesaw, a mine sweeper game, and lighting fires using magnesium and flint. The first day ended with a delicious dinner and dessert, which was followeed by an African drumming workshop and a talk from an Aboriginal elder.
Day two started off with a yummy breakfast and guided meditation before heading to the outdoor adventure course. The highlights included tree climbing and a thrilling 10 metre drop. Students also learnt about the impact of the Black Saturday bushfires from a CFA volunteer, and explored how the forest had regenerated. 'Hunger Games', a team challenge, ended the day with lots of fun and laughter.
On the final day, students packed up and enjoyed the breakfast together. Then they all took part in a scavenger hunt before presenting their groups projects to everyone. Overall, the conference was a memorable experience that encouraged teamwork, leadership and learning beyond the classroom.
