Science Talent Search

Each year the Science Talent Search (STS) celebrates the imagination and scientific thinking of Victorian primary and secondary students, offering opportunities to investigate, innovate, and showcase their work across a variety of topics and disciplines.

Celebrating 75 years of inspiring curiosity, innovation, and scientific thinking in students across Victoria, this year’s STS explores the theme Seeds of Science – Nurturing knowledge for all, encouraging students to see science as a living, evolving process. Just as seeds need the right conditions to grow, knowledge flourishes when it is nurtured, shared, and applied to real-world challenges. Students are invited to plant ideas, ask questions, and develop projects that demonstrate curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.

EHPS has had a long-running affiliation with the Science Talent Search and are thrilled to be offering this competition as an extra-curricular event again this year for students in Years 3 to 6. As a school we achieved excellent results in 2025 and are excited to see the fantastic work and creativity of students this year.

24 students have committed to participating in STS this year and have chosen the project they would like to complete. The event cost includes entry fees, mentoring by the Science Talent Search Coordinator (Eric Zhang) during school hours, provision of judges, certificates and awards.

Science Talent Search projects must be completed and are due to Mr Zhang and Ms Noor from Monday 15 June and not later than Friday 24 July (end of week 2 Term 3). Projects must be provided via a USB stick (no passwords), GoogleDrive or email with a link to a similar file-sharing program. No late submissions or refunds will be possible.

Science Week @ EHPS

We will celebrate Science Week from Monday 22 June to Friday 26 June. 

During the week, each year level will participate in an incursion facilitated by Mad About Science as follows:

• Prep – Mad Science Show on Friday 26 June 
• Year 1 – Chemistry Chaos on Monday 22 June
• Year 2 – Liquid Nitrogen Show on Tuesday 23 June
• Year 3 – Chemistry Chaos on Thursday 25 June
• Year 4 – Chemistry Chaos on Wednesday 24 June
• Year 5 – Liquid Nitrogen Show on Tuesday 23 June
• Year 6 – Liquid Nitrogen Show on Tuesday 23 June
