District Cross Country
The top nine students in each age category at our House Cross Country qualified to compete at the Monash Heights District Cross Country event on Thursday 14 May at Jells Park in Wheelers Hill.

The students trained for the District Cross Country event during lunch times. They should all be very proud of their efforts, completing the 2km or 3km course on 14th May.
Overall, we placed third which was a great result!
Thank you to Miss Boles and Miss Dernikos for assisting the students while I was busy at the finish line. Also, a huge thanks to Kenea (Bradley’s Mum), Ting (Evan’s Mum) and Brett (Evie’s Dad) for volunteering to marshal on the track. Your assistance was greatly appreciated!
On the 14th May Isabella, myself and fifty-two other students from our school competed in the Monash Heights District Cross Country. We competed in the 12/13-year girls’ 3km race. Before the race we were feeling nerves creeping up but we were also excited to try our best and have fun.
During the race I felt breathless but also determined to get a good place for our school. Overall, our school placed third and individually Isabella and I placed third and fourth.
A big shout out to Ms Hocking, Miss Boles and Miss Dernikos for coming along to supervise and support us. Also, thanks to the parents who came to spectate and helped us train for the event.

Congratulations to the students in the photos below who received a ribbon for placing top four in their races. Fantastic achievement Alia (1st), Isabella (4th), Emily (1st), Reece (2nd), Grace (3rd) and Nick (3rd).

House Athletics
Our House Athletics Carnival for Years 3 to 6 students was held yesterday, Thursday 28 May, at the Bill Sewart Athletics Track in Burwood East.
This event is designed to provide students with an opportunity to practise a range of athletics skills in a friendly and competitive environment. The weather wasn’t great, but we persisted.
An overall House winner will be announced at school assembly on Monday.
Students performances will be noted and used to select the school representative team for the Monash Heights District Athletics competition to be held on Tuesday 25 August at Knox Athletics Track at Knoxfield (date and venue correct at time of publication; subject to confirmation closer to the date).
Year 6 Winter Inter-School Sport
Year 6 students are excited to be part of one of the following sports teams for the Winter Inter-School Sport season: Ultimate Frisbee, Netball Girls, Soccer Mixed, Teeball Mixed, Teeball Girls and Bootball.
Matches are played on Friday mornings from 9am to 11am, as follows:

15 May (week 4) – Mount Waverley PS (Teeball, Bootball and Ultimate Frisbee away)
22 May (week 5) – Wheelers Hills PS (Netball, Soccer away)

Teams playing away must meet on the School Oval (beside the Stadium) at 8:55am and will leave on the bus at 9am from Outlook Road at the rear of the school.
Uniform is provided for some sports and parents have been provided with information if this applies. At the conclusion of the season, provided uniform is to be laundered and returned to the school.
