After an excellent performance all the way to Sydney Nationals last year, the Highvale Robotics Club is back up and running for the new 2025/26 season!
For those who do not already know, the Highvale Robotics Club is a student-led, team based robot building competition. Students compete in competitions that require them to build robots of their own design that complete various games. Students challenge other schools in Victoria, and across Australia, to build highest scoring designs.
The games this year are:
For year 7-8: VEX IQ Mix and Match
For year 8+ : VEX V5 Push Back
We are always looking for new members. No experience is required to join. Just an ability to work in a team with friends, or meet some new ones, and an interest in creating your own custom robots!
For more information on how parents or caregivers can enrol their young person in this program, please reach out to Bryleigh-Ann Legg: bryleigh-ann.legg@education.vic.gov.au.
Our First Competition
The first competition of the season (and the second competition for the season in the entire world!) happened just this Tuesday, 01/07, at Templestowe College. Students finally tested their designs in collaboration with other schools for the area.
Our student teams are:
Team A (Year 7) – Louis C., Reesa D., Ethan M., Nathan O., Luke S., Adam Z.
Team A (Seniors) – Guillem C., Scarlett C., Rhys D, Yuna L., Tingyu L., Darshini N., Max W.
Team C – Janet Q., Eshal P., Sarena P., Xyii Y.
Team D – Yi Hong C., Ehen C., Jaxx L., Joseph L., Ankit S., Akira S., Thisen W.
Team F – Allister C., Charlie D., Aaron J., Ethan M., Daniel M., Hudson M., Kenneth W.
Overall, our teams performed fantastically, with Team D and F choosing to team up in the final bracket. They successfully made it all the way to the semi-finals. Great work to all the students in D and F team! We look forward to our next competition, which will take place on the 12th August at St Andrews Christian College.
