U15's Netball Gala Day

 

On Tuesday October 22, Francis Greenway U15's netball team participated in a gala day playing schools within the Hunter-Maitland area, held at Charlestown Netball courts. Students played exceptionally well, coming second in their pool, winning four out of their five games. Due to their outstanding result, they progressed to the semi-finals, only losing by 2 points, coming 4th overall out of seventeen teams completing. All students who participated are to be congratulated on their tremendous efforts and excellent sportsmanship demonstrated throughout the entirety of the event. Well done boys!

 

U15's Rugby league

On Thursday September 19 the Francis Greenway U15's rugby league team participated in the NRL 9's at Salamander Bay Sports Complex. In the first game the team played against St Pius X High School, Adamstown where the team won 23-6. In the second game the team played against Swansea High School, where they won 40-8. This meant the team progressed into the quarter finals where they played against Warners Bay High School, in which they won 31-7 to progress into the semi finals. Unfortunately losing Catherine McAuley Catholic College Medowie. All boys that participated are to be commended on their effort throughout the entire day.

 

 

Lawn Bowls

On Monday October 28 Mackenzie Wicks, Zayne West and Kiara Rowsell represented Francis Greenway in the Newcastle/Hunter High School Bowls competition at New Lambton Bowling Club. They competed against Morisset in the first game in which they won 13-3. Next they played against Hunter River where they drew 4-4. Lastly they competed against Kurri Kurri where they were winning 4-3 until the last end, unfortunately losing 5-4. All students should be proud of their efforts throughout the day, narrowly missing out on the semi finals.

 

U14's Rugby League

On Thursday September 31 Francis Greenway's U14's rugby league team participated in the NRL 9's at Salamander Bay Sports Complex. All the students are to be commended of their effort and resilience they showed throughout the day battling the heat.

 

 

U15s Boys Basketball

On Thursday August 15, Francis Greenways U15s Boys Basketball participated in gala day playing other schools from the Port Stephens area. They narrowly missed out on advancing to the next competition stage finishing 3rd overall. They started the day with a narrow loss against Tomaree HS, and bounced back with a strong performance against Dungog HS. They then put up a strong fight against Hunter River but fell short in the final quarter. They boys finished the day with a strong effort against Irrawang finishing the day as 3rd overall.

 

 

 

Under 16/s Rugby League Boys 9s

On October 24 our rugby league team represented the school, showcasing incredible teamwork and dedication! Each player gave their all, supporting one another on and off the field, and making us proud with their enthusiasm and effort. They came away with the win in the first round, however, went down by 6 in the second round, narrowly missing out of the quarter final. All students should be congratulated on the valuable effort on the day.

 

Under 14s and 16s Girls Rugby League

On October 23 our under 14/s and 16/s girl rugby league team showcased outstanding skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship competing against other school. Despite succumbing to injuries our players demonstrated resilience and determination, coming away with 4 wins across our both teams. Congratulations to all the students for their tremendous effort and commitment on the day!

 

 

Referee’s Rugby League Accreditation

Congratulations to our students who recently completed their referee accreditation! Through dedication and hard work, these students have gained valuable skills in leadership, decision-making, and sportsmanship, which will serve them well both on and off the field. The accreditation process included extensive training in game rules, managing on-field situations, and upholding fair play, equipping them to officiate matches confidently and professionally that will be used in an upcoming league tag gala day. Well done to all involved!

 

 

Term 3 Lunch Time Netball Competition

Congratulations to all 8 teams that signed up and competed in the Netball competition last term. It was highly competitive and teams demonstrated resilience. Thank you to the many PDHPE teachers and students who volunteered their time to set up and referee. Our Grand Final Winners Team Tal Cohen only lost 1 game throughout the comp. A massive effort. All member's of the winning team may collect their prize from Miss Johnston in the PDHPE Staffroom.

 

Final Events for 2024

It has been a huge year of sport! A massive thank you to all the students that have signed up,  tried out, competed within the school teams and individual events throughout the year.
