‘History is all explained by Geography’ – Robert Penn Warren

As we enter the final term of the school year, we are excited to continue our journey of learning and growth with students, staff, and families. Term 4 marks a unique time filled with anticipation, achievement, and opportunities for reflection. We see our Year 12 students preparing for their final exams, and students setting goals.

Congratulations to Year 12 - 2024

Congratulations to our Year 12 students on reaching this significant milestone! Completing the HSC is a tremendous achievement, and we are incredibly proud of your hard work, dedication, and resilience throughout this journey. As you now prepare to sit your final exams, we wish you the very best of luck. Remember to take care of yourselves, stay focused, and know that your school community is cheering you on every step of the way. Good luck—you’ve got this!

Stage 4 History

Our students continue to build their knowledge through robust and engaging learning activities.

Year 8P History students brought history to life last term by building paddlepop stick catapults as part of their Medieval Europe unit. This hands-on activity allowed students to explore the ingenuity and engineering skills of the Middle Ages while learning about the tools and tactics used in medieval warfare. Through the construction and testing of their catapults, they gained a deeper understanding of the era’s technological innovations and the challenges of historical battle strategy. It was a fun and practical way to connect with history!

Our students have also been, exploring how castle fortifications evolved to defend against new threats over time. Taking their learning into the digital realm, students applied their knowledge by building medieval castles in Minecraft, complete with strategic defences and, in a nod to historical practices, a pit for suspected witches. This immersive activity allowed students to creatively engage with historical architecture

As we conclude another successful year in HSIE, we reflect on the incredible journey our students have undertaken across History, Geography, Commerce, Legal Studies, Business Studies, Ancient History, Modern History Society & Culture and Work Studies. This year has been filled with enriching experiences, engaging projects, and countless moments of discovery. Our students have developed critical thinking skills, explored diverse perspectives, and gained a deeper understanding of the world around them. We are so proud of their achievements and dedication. Wishing everyone a restful and joyful holiday break, and we look forward to welcoming students back next year for another exciting year of learning in HSIE!
