Band Update
The energy is high across our various ensembles, in particular the Senior Band, as they prepare for the ANZAC Day march in the city. The Senior Band is enjoying practising a wide variety of music, featuring everything from the swing-era classic Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and the pop energy of Counting Stars to the band favourite, How to Train Your Dragon. The Senior Band enjoyed performing their wide variety of repertoire at the Open Night on Tuesday evening. The Year 7 Junior Band has commenced their lunchtime rehearsals with lots of new faces in the Band Room and friendships forming.
Abi Chaffey, Tait Mason and Dante Hewitt-Burt are demonstrating their commitment to music excellence by preparing for their AMEB music exams later this year. We are very fortunate to have Claudia Barker OAM (former KWRSC Director of Music) visiting weekly to accompany these students on piano.
Year 7 Instrumental Music
We have also been extremely busy this term delivering trial IM lessons to all of our Year 7 students, with many new Year 7’s enrolling in the program to continue their journey in music education. Welcome to all of our new Year 7 IM students! It is never too late for any of our KWRSC students to pop in and sign up for IM lessons. Come into the Band Room and speak to Holly or Emma, or just sign up on the sheet near the door!
