Health & PE

This term, our Year 7 students have been actively engaging in their Physical Activity in the Community unit. This unit incorporates key components of Water Safety and Bike Education, building students’ confidence and developing practical skills to support lifelong participation in physical activity.
A highlight of the term was the excursion to Knox Leisureworks, where the majority of students took part in a hands-on water safety experience. Students developed their understanding of safe behaviours in and around aquatic environments, while also having the opportunity to apply essential survival and rescue skills in a real-world setting.
In addition, all our students have completed on site practical sessions, with half of our Year 7 classes completing an external Bike Education session. These sessions focused on developing students’ confidence and competence when riding in the community, with an emphasis on road safety, awareness, and responsible decision-making. The remaining four classes will complete their session in week 1 of term 2.
Across the unit, the key focus has been on how students can safely access and use community facilities to increase their participation in physical activity. It has been fantastic to see students stepping outside their comfort zones, supporting one another, and developing skills that will help them stay active and safe in their everyday lives.
