Foundation News

What a busy and exciting few weeks we have had in Foundation!

We have recently enjoyed a wonderful excursion to the Performing Arts Centre, where students watched a live performance of Where is the Green Sheep?. Back at school, we continued to build on our experience by exploring storytelling and responding to the text through a range of learning activities.

In the classroom, students have been working hard to recognise sounds and learn a range of 'tricky' words. They are beginning to apply this knowledge by constructing simple sentences using correct sentence structure.

In Maths, we have started a new unit focusing on recognising, reading and writing numbers to 20. It has been fantastic to see students growing in confidence and independence as they explore numbers through hands-on activities and games.

We continue our unit, Finding God in All Things, where students are learning to see God's love in nature, in people and in everyday moments. This learning has been strengthened through our focus on the Sacred Heart of Jesus and our school Blanket Drive, helping students show kindness and care for others.

Our Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) also commenced last week as part of our Wednesday afternoon sport sessions. PMP supports the development of coordination, balance, motor skills and confidence through fun, active stations. We are extremely fortunate to have our Grade 6 Sport Captains and School Leaders supporting the students as they rotate through activities and practise their skills.
