Grade 4 News

It has been another busy and productive fortnight in Year 4!

In Reading, we have begun exploring The Arrival by Shaun Tan. It has been a pleasure to study this unique wordless novel, and it has been wonderful to hear the many different interpretations and ideas students have shared. The rich illustrations have encouraged thoughtful discussions and allowed students to develop their comprehension and inferencing skills.

In Writing, we are focussing on narrative writing. Students are learning how to write engaging stories by using paragraph structure to organise and sequence their ideas effectively.

In Mathematics we have been learning how to choose appropriate graph types for different sets of data and how to read and interpret information presented in graphs. We are now moving to addition and subtraction.

In Respectful Relationships our focus has been on help-seeking. Students have explored when it is appropriate to seek help and the different ways they can ask for support when needed.

In Religion, we have been learning about the Holy Spirit and discussing how we can use the gifts and guidance of the Holy Spirit in our everyday lives. Students have reflected on how the Holy Spirit can help them make positive choices and support others.

Congratulations to all students who represented our school at the Zone Athletics competition. It was a very successful day, with some excellent results achieved. Most importantly, the students' behaviour and sportsmanship were outstanding, and they represented our school with pride.

Well done to everyone involved!

Please continue to encourage regular home reading. Reading at home is incredibly important for developing fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and a lifelong love of reading.

Thank you for your ongoing support in making reading a daily habit.
