Grade 6 News

It has been a busy and exciting time in Grade 6!

We have been thoroughly enjoying our recent involvement in interschool sports. It has been wonderful to see students demonstrating teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance as they represent our school. Their positive attitudes and encouragement of one another have been fantastic to watch.

A huge congratulations to all of our students who attended the Zone Cross Country event.

In the classroom, we are making great progress in Mathematics, where we are currently focusing on Fractions. Students are developing their understanding of equivalent fractions, addition and subtraction, and applying these skills to real-world problems.

In Literacy, we are well into our class novel study of Free Diving by Lorrae Coffin. Students have been highly engaged in exploring the themes, characters, and setting of the story which is a picture story book about diving for pearls.

Those students who have chosen to participate in the Lions Club Junior Speaking Competition where they are speaking about who they would like to invite to dinner if they could choose anyone at all (past or present) The competition will be held on August 2nd.  All grade 6 students are researching a person of their choice and creating a detailed biography of their lives and planning a theme for the dinner party.  Students are enjoying researching and presenting their work creatively.
