Humanities Competitions

Year 7, 8 and 9

Earlier this year students from Year 7 competed in the National History Competition and students from Year 8 competed in the Australian Geography Competition. For the students below we acknowledge their great achievements as recognised by the National History Teachers Association of Australia and the organising committee of the Australian Geography competition. Olivia P was acknowledged as being in the top one percent of entries in the Geography Competition.

We also acknowledge the participation by two of our Year 9 students, Kim S and Bethany R in the National Simpson Prize, submitting essays in response to the prompt: Evaluate the usefulness of diary entries, letters and photographs for providing evidence about the contrasting experiences and perspectives of Australians who served in either the First World War (WWI) or the Second World War (WWII). This commitment was on top of their regular schoolwork. The winners will be formally announced in March at an event at Parliament House in Canberra.

As a school we want to place these efforts into a broader educational journey of equipping our students to be responsive disciples of Jesus in His world.
