Gallery on the Green
Our first pop-up Gallery on the Green was a great success. We’re grateful to everyone who attended and helped make it an enjoyable evening celebrating the hard work of our gents. They felt proud to showcase their work, answer questions and engage with you, the audience.
This exhibition gave many of us an insight into what is happening in the minds of our boys, who often don't verbalise their thoughts and feelings. We thank our leadership team for supporting us, our awesome maintenance crew for their background work getting the space ready and our parents, teachers and students who helped to install the work so that you could view it at its best. Most importantly, we thank our students for working hard and bearing a part of their souls, thereby providing the beautiful artworks on show. With gratitude from the Art Department Team.
Inspired creations by senior art students
This term, the boys in Visual Art in Practice have been immersed in developing their own individual projects. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of artists and artisans, they explored different styles, materials and techniques to shape their ideas. The result has been a collection of unique and imaginative artworks that showcase their creativity and growing confidence as emerging artists.
Deriving inspiration from art and history
Year 10 Visual Art students recently attended a stimulus excursion to look at symbols in artwork and objects. The boys had the opportunity to photograph and sketch a variety of works. The excursion included the Tomb of the Pharaohs at the Cairns Aquarium, work by artist Brian Robinson at the Cairns Contemporary Art Gallery, the Cairns Art Gallery and the Cairns Museum.
